Welcome to Worklink the connection to flexible, on-campus work at the University of Birmingham for University of Birmingham Students.

You must be a current University of Birmingham Student with a valid in-date student ID card.

You can quickly create an account online by clicking the ‘Create an account’ button above. Once you have created an account you will receive an email alert each time a new job is posted.

How to Complete your Registration

Please note: You only need to complete Step 2 if you are starting work on campus. You MUST do this 24 hours before your work assignment commences.

  • Visit the Worklink office at the Guild of Students with original passport and Visa (a driving license is not acceptable). If a UK student, a full birth certificate (A4 size with parents names on) and proof of your National insurance number, is an accepted alternative to a UK passport
  • National Insurance Number
  • Student ID Card
  • Bank Details (sort code & account number)

Once registered you can log in at any time with your log in details to view all current jobs and apply.

Once registered, you will be issued with a Worklink Registration Card which you must present to your hiring manager when discussing potential work. You must then inform them of any other hours you might be working across campus.

Working Restrictions for University of Birmingham Registered Students

Undergraduates

European Economic Area students who are studying full time at the University can work for the University for a maximum of 15 hours a week during term time and up to full time hours during vacation.

International students can work up to 20 hours per week (as per immigration rules) during term time and full time during the holidays, provided there are no existing restrictions on the student visa stamp.
It should be noted, however, that the University of Birmingham restricts its own international students to working 15 hours per week during term time if employed by the University of Birmingham.

Postgraduates

European Economic Area students who are studying full time at the University of Birmingham can work for the University for a maximum of 15 hours a week during term time, vacation and during the writing up period.

International Postgraduate students studying at the University of Birmingham can work for the University for a maximum of 15 hours a week during term time and vacation, provided there are no existing restrictions on the student visa stamp.

Our offices are open Monday to Friday 10am - 4pm during term time and 12pm - 3pm during non-term time
